It will help dispose of work speedily Focus on benefit to targeted sections JAIPUR: Panchayat headquarters in villages across Rajasthan will remain open throughout the day like government offices to deal with issues confronting the common people and dispose of the work speedily. State Principal Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Secretary Ram Lubhaya issued instructions for opening the panchayats during the office hours at a meeting of the Additional Chief Executive Officers of Zila Parishads here on Monday. Mr. Lubhaya said finalisation of targets and allocation of budget as well as technical clearance for the projects should be carried out without delay to extend benefit to the targeted sections of society. “An effective monitoring will also ensure success of the programmes launched by panchayats.”The Principal Secretary pointed out that both the Central and State governments were releasing huge funds for rural development and asked the Additional CEOs to promote agriculture and animal husbandry to support rural livelihood. Panchayati Raj Commissioner Khemraj suggested that works relating to water harvesting be taken up under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the State. He said all the vacant posts of Gram Sevaks had been filled up recently. Providing details of expenditure under various schemes, Mr. Khemraj said Rs.21 lakh was spent on 51 works in 23 village panchayats selected for the Nirmal Gram Prize, while Rs.96 lakh was spent on 98 works in 123 villages under the special grants scheme for peaceful rural areas.
