Dindigul: M. Mohamed (103 n.o. and four for 29) and M. Abdur Rahim (40 and six for 23) helped Vignesh Sports Club crush Majestic Cricket Club by 196 runs in the Canara Bank-DDCA first division league at the GTN ground here on Sunday.

Vignesh Sports Club 260 for six in 43 overs (S. John Lessly Bastian 41, M. Mohamed 103 n.o., M. Abdur Rahim 40) bt Majestic CC 64 in 105 overs (M. Abdur Rahim six for 23, M. Mohamed four for 29).

Easy for Eleven Stars

Eleven Stars Cricket Club defeated Oliva Cricket Club by seven wickets in the Madurai DCA first division ‘B’ zone league at Madurai on Sunday.

Zone ‘B’: Oliva CC 117 in 39.4 overs lost to Eleven Stars CC 118 for three in 24.3 overs (Charles 60 n.o.).

Majestic Cups CC 96 in 25 overs (Arun four for 16) lost to Freak CC 98 for two in 15.2 overs.

Second division:

P.S. Oliva 189 in 25.3 overs (Karuppasamy 47, Marutha Pandy 40, Jai Arokiaraj four for 30) bt MCHSCC 180 for eight in 30 overs (Sivakumar 54).

Marthandam posts win

Marthandam Cricket Club beat King’s Cricket Club by 27 runs in the KK DCA second division league at Nagercoil on Sunday.

The scores: Marthandam CC 174 for six in 30 overs (R.H. Prabu Singh 57) bt King’s CC 147 for eight in 30 overs.

Marthandam Friends CC 64 in 13 overs (B. Mahesh four for 20) lost to Cosmos CC 65 for one in 4.4 overs (Ramesh 34 n.o.).

Aravindh wins title

Aravindh Chithambaram of Dolphin MHSS won the above-13 title in the Madurai district open chess tournament for boys and girls, organised by Chanakya Chess Academy, at Madurai on Sunday.

Final standings:

Above-13: 1. Aravindh Chithambaram 5/5; 2. Premkumar (Nadar HSS) 4; 3. V. Sanjeev (Lakshmi School) 4.
