Let us look forward- CM tells officials

The Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa has directed the officials to keep pace with the policy makers and wanted them to contribute towards the development of the state. He said this during his first meeting with the secretary level officials after he took over as the Chief Minister.

Briefing the presspersons after the meeting Mr. Yeddyurappa said “I am a forward looking man, I have my dreams for the state let us together take the state to greater heights”. He said he had told the officials to be prepared to work harder and reach the government schemes to the people, especially to the farm sector. He said this time the monsoons had advanced well in the state and it was time for the government to take up supply of the vital inputs to the farm sector like the fertilisers and seeds on war footing. “I will not do post mortem of the incidents that led to the Haveri firing, I have constituted a separate committee for that, but let us not see another day when farmers will have to run from pillar to post to get their share of fertilisers and seeds”.

Rs.5000 Crore for Bangalore demanded

Outlining his meeting with the union Finance Minister P.Chidambaram on Monday Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had urged the minister to grant a central fund of Rs. 5000 crore for development of urban infrastructure in Bangalore. He has also asked the Finance Minister to reimburse the loan component to the state government which can be used for developing farm infrastructure in the state he added. He said the Finance Minister has asked him to make a proposal.

He said “my aim was to bring Karnataka on the top slot in the country on the development chart. The state had slipped to 7th position in development but I am sure if the officials co-operate with the government in all respects we will arrive there together”.

The state secretariat has been asked to “simplify procedures” in every aspect of administration for which every department has been asked to submit their plans to the head of their respective departments. He said procedural simplification will speed up the delivery of services to the people.

Stating that he has planned to constitute a ‘core committee’ for addressing the needs of social sector Mr. Yeddyurappa said that the core committee will be designed to take up formulation of social development systems with the objective of providing solutions to socio-economic problems in Karnataka.

Manifesto implementation in 100 days.

In a handout that was circulated among the press he has stated that various promises of the BJP’s manifesto will be implemented. Beneficiaries of the the Bhagyalakshmi scheme will now get Rs. 1 lakh as against Rs. 10,000 that was previously given per child. All the other schemes like distribution of bicycles to school children, Sandhya Suraksha, Suvarna Kayaka Udyoga Scheme, and Suvarna Rural Development Scheme will be continued. He also announced that the 4 percent loan scheme for farmers will now be reduced to 3 percent for which the state bureaucracy should be prepared to implement. He also has directed the officials to make suitable arrangements to distribute rice at Rs. 2 per kg, free power to farmers and distribution of ration cards. He said he wanted all government orders on these recommendations should be out in next 100 days and implementation should start immediately thereafter.

Mr.Yeddyurappa said that he also felt compelled to encourage the officials to share their views without any hesitation with him and he was sure such suggestions will be appreciated. He told them “I expect results not excuses please bear this in mind and try to live up to my expectations”.
