BDA site to be allotted to him Interaction planned at Bala Mandira
ACHIEVER: Minister for Women and Child Development P.M. Narendra Swamy felicitating Master Kishan in Bangalore on Monday. Shalini Rajnish, Principal Secretary, Women and Child Development, is seen. BANGALORE: The 12-year-old artiste-director Master Kishan, who bagged the Golden Lotus Award for his film C/o Footpath has been recommended for the Union Government’s children’s exemplary achievement award by the Department of Women and Child Welfare. The awards will be presented on November 14 in New Delhi. Minister for Women and Child Welfare P.M. Narendra Swamy felicitated Master Kishan with a garland, a shawl and a Mysore peta at his office here on Monday.. He said that the Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, would, in recognition of the fame he (Master Kishan) had brought the State, would also felicitate the youngster sometime after the presentation of the budget. Meanwhile, the State Cabinet had decided to allot a Bangalore Development Authority site to the artiste, as a token of its appreciation. Mr. Swamy said that an interaction with Master Kishan would be organised at the Bala Mandira for the benefit of children. An education-cum-training programme for child workers would be formulated in association with the Department of Labour. Master Kishan has, among others, won the Children’s Right Award at an International Film Festival in Italy in 2007, the Silver Elephant Award at the 15th Golden Elephant International Children’s Film Festival in Hyderabad and the International Children’s Jury Prize at the Cairo International Film Festival for Children, Egypt 2008. The Government of Greece is honouring him for his contribution to children’s education on June 22. Master Kishan, an eighth standard student, told reporters that 100-day shooting schedule had not posed any problem to academicsas he had prepared studied all the subjects well before the examination. The director said that he would take up pursue his higher studies in film-related technology to improve his skills in film production.
