Ensure foreigners are not in voters’ list: BJP
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Expressing doubts over the reliability of the new voters’ list in the Capital, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan on Monday demanded that the Election Commission constitute a high-level committee to ensure that the list does not contain the names of Bangladeshis and other foreigners.
Pointing out that in an affidavit relating to Bangladeshis living illegally in the Capital filed in the Delhi High Court it had been mentioned that 12 lakh foreigners are in Delhi, Dr. Vardhan said: “On this basis, the Delhi High Court had directed the Election Commission to provide information about Bangladeshi voters living in Delhi.
Many government agencies including the Union Home Ministry have admitted that Bangladeshis are living in large numbers illegally in the Capital. The foreigners include Pakistanis, Nepalese and Afghanistanis, but the number of Bangladeshi is the largest.”
