Last day rush for DU registration

Admission-seekers on the last day of submission of forms at DU on Monday.

NEW DELHI: The last day of the registration process at Delhi University on Monday saw a large number of students turning up to buy the common pre-admission forms. About 5,630 forms were sold during the day and 14,974 were deposited.

In all, as many as 135,016 admission forms were sold and about 92,758 were submitted in the past 15 days. Last year, 132,000 information bulletins were sold.

“I have applied in a couple of private institutes. I have heard a lot about Delhi University so I decided to give it a shot. I have registered myself and I don’t care which college I get into,” said Devender, who had come all the way from Sonepat in Haryana.

There were several others who were not aware that Monday was the last date of the registration process. A few youngsters were seen making hurried calls to their relatives and friends after they learnt about it.

“All along I thought the last date was June 20. I had applied for B. El. Ed. and appeared for its written examination on June 14. Thankfully, my friend told me about today being the last date and we rushed to the North Campus,” said Jyoti Rathore.

“A number of candidates who have already filled the admission forms but feel that maybe they made a mistake or missed something earlier also tend to buy fresh forms on the last day,” pointed out a University official.

The first cut-off list will be displayed by colleges on June 26.
