Mechatronics training programme inaugurated

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A five-day short-term training programme on Mechatronics was inaugurated by R. Chenga Reddy, Minister for Higher Education, at the Institution of Engineers campus in Khairatabad.

Mr. Reddy said that a teacher belonging to just one branch of engineering would not be able to teach Mechatronics, an interdisciplinary subject combining mechanical, electronics and computer engineering. This had become more relevant in the context of JNTU introducing the subject for B.Tech. in first semester of the final year Mechanical engineering, he said.

The Institution of Engineers (India) had therefore taken up the responsibility to train teachers belonging to mechanical engineering from various engineering colleges. JNTU Registrar Lal Kishore was also present.
