Three arrested for robbing people on NICE road Crime Notes

The gang used to target motorists who took the route

BANGALORE: The Nelamangala police have arrested three persons of a gang, which allegedly used to hurl stones at motorists and rob them of their valuables. The condition of 25-year-old motorist B.C. Girish, who was attacked by the gang three days ago, is still serious.

The police gave the names of the accused as Puttaraja (24), Muniyappa (20) and Shivakumar (22), all residents of Andrahalli near Nelamangala.

The police said the gang was targeting motorists on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Road near Andrahalli during night.

On Friday night, the gang attacked Mr. Girish, a resident of Manjunath Nagar, when he was returning from Peenya.

A stone thrown by the miscreants hit Mr. Girish on his chest. Girish did not stop the vehicle and drove straight to a private hospital. The police said the condition of Girish continues to be serious.

The police are yet to get details of the attacks. They have not recovered any articles robbed by the miscreants.

The police are on the lookout for the other members of the gang. A case has been registered.

Body found

The charred remains of a 40-year-old plumber, who had gone missing since four days, was found near Savandurga Hills in Magadi police station limits on Monday.

The police said the victim, Rajashekar, a resident of Jnanabharati, had been missing since Thursday.

Passers-by found the body near the hill and informed the police.

On the basis of some documents found near the body, the police got in touch with Rajashekar’s relative Venkatesh.

The police have registered a case of murder.

Suicide

A 27-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house on Sunday, according to the Banaswadi police.

The police said Vidya, a resident of Kammanhalli, was not happy with bridegroom selected by her family members. She hanged herself on Sunday when the family members were busy making arrangements for the engagement ceremony, the police said. Ravi (40), who was mentally ill, died after allegedly setting himself ablaze in his house in Banaswadi on Sunday. Another 40-year-old man Robin, who was also mentally ill, died after hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house in BDA layout. The Banasawadi police have registered cases of unnatural deaths.

Burglary

Gold ornaments and cash worth Rs. 70,000 were stolen from the house of Suresh Gowda in Mahalakshmi Layout 16th Main on Sunday night. The police said the miscreants gained entry into his house when Gowda had gone to visit his relatives on Sunday.

When he returned on Monday morning, he found that his house had been broken into. The Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case.

Arrest

The Vyalikaval police have arrested Ramachandra (50), a driver from Krishnandanagar, for allegedly stealing Rs. 14 lakh from the house of C.N. Mohan in Vyalikaval.

Loss

The police said Mohan, owner of Armugam Renewable Energy Systems, lost Rs. 14 lakh kept in his office. Ramachandara allegedly stole the amount when Mohan had gone for lunch on June 5.

The police have recovered Rs. 13.6 lakh from the accused.
