Two businessmen refused bail
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A court here has refused bail to two businessmen accused of trying to secure the release of an oil tanker which was seized after the police found that the diesel in it was mixed with kerosene. A Delhi Police sub-inspector was also allegedly involved in helping the accused. Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau rejected the bail pleas of Anil Kumar Bansal and Sunil Kumar Bansal saying they were the main beneficiaries and had tried to manipulate and forge documents in order to secure the release of the diesel tanker. The court also noted that the forgery was allegedly done in connivance with the Investigating Officer of the case Sub-Inspector Mahinder Lal who was yet to be arrested.
On April 10, the Vasant Kunj police, led by Mahinder, had arrested one Chinu alias Chintu, along with drivers of the tanker as they were allegedly involved in mixing kerosene with the diesel. The police also seized the vehicle. Subsequently Chinu and the drivers were released on bail. Meanwhile, Anil Bansal, who had a contract with the Indian Oil Corporation, Sunil Bansal, who owned the tanker, allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy and tried to get the vehicle released through the court.
