Jha opens with a win
NEW DELHI: International Master Sriram Jha opened his campaign with a victory over Mohammed Shamshad Bhatti in the first round of the North Zone LIC chess championship at the Jeevan Prakash Building here on Tuesday.
The results (first round): Men: Sriram Jha (1) bt Mohammed Shamshad Bhatti; Naveen Mathur lost to Sunil Bansal (1); A.K. Walia (1) bt Pankaj Kapoor; Rajesh Duggal (1) bt Anurag Mishra; D.N. Jangid lost to S. Anjeev Kumar (1).
Women: Mamta Mukhi lost to Mitali Thadani (1); Savanderjeet Kaur (1) bt Nisha Gupta; Neetu Ahluwalia (1) bt Neerja Jain; Babita (0.5) drew with Rekha Khullar (0.5); Saroj Purohit (1) bt Bhanumati.
