Weavers demand employment scheme

HYDERABAD: The AP Handloom Weavers’ Congress has appealed to the centre to implement permanent employment schemes for the survival of the handloom industry ‘due to global competition’. In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, P. Lakshmana Swamy, general secretary, invited his immediate attention to get the draft national handloom policy prepared by the Textiles Ministry two and a half years approved. – Special Correspondent
