Decks being cleared for entry of Chiranjeevi into politics

Special Correspondent

We wish to pay back to the people, says Nagendra Babu

ALL SET: Megastar Chiranjeevi smiles while walking out of a temple in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: Confirming about the political arangetram of film star Chiranjeevi, his brother Nagendra Babu has announced that the family chose the political platform for paying back to the people.

Mr. Nagendra Babu said that they were busy firming up plans for the political entry of the megastar and the proposed party that is set to be launched in August. “We in the family firmly believe in giving back to the society and people. Without our fans and people we know we are nowhere. And we are comfortable taking the political route to make a difference in the lives of the poor and downtrodden,” he told The Hindu.

Even as the film star’s supporters are convening meetings to ‘reveal’ Chiranjeevi’s political agenda, Mr. Nagendra Babu said ‘finer details’ that were doing the rounds in media circles were not true. The proposed flag of the party was designed by an ‘overzealous fan’ and the electronic media that laid hands on it went to town, that’s all,” he quipped.

Similar was his response on other details like possible alliance with the Left parties and the Telangana issue.

Performs poojas

Sarve Janaa Sukhino Bhavanthu… that’s all I wish for,” said a smiling Chiranjeevi to the media at a temple in Film Nagar early on Tuesday morning.

With wife Surekha and son Ramcharan, the star performed special poojas before Lord Prasannanjaneya at the temple complex, in the construction of which film producer V. B. Rajendra Prasad was involved. The star participated in the fourth anniversary of the temple complex.

As is usual, the visit was kept under wraps.

However, a few shutterbugs and television channel camera crew were there to record the trip.
