Class act: Kamal Haasan greeting mediamen before interacting with them over his latest flick, Dasavatharam, in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

HYDERABAD: He radiates a sense of contentment and makes no bones about it.

Having established himself as a synonym for experimentation on the silver screen, Kamal Haasan says he is humbled by the response for his ‘Dasavatharam’ all over.

“I do not know how to express my gratitude. We are here to thank for the enormous support the movie has received,” he says.

Interacting with presspersons on Tuesday, Kamal Haasan said that the appreciation would make him look forward to doing more and still better.

“ ‘Dasavatharam’ is making highest ever collection of my career. The best ever,” he smiles.

All those who have seen the movie and whom he happened to meet were keen on having a second look and that makes him say, “I will have to live up to this reputation with my coming movies.”

Learning from history

The film spanning centuries is all what he has learnt from history and the danger of history repeating itself. “And history repeats because of our failure to understand from it,” he observes.

About the storyline encompassing different parts of the globe, he speaks with a philosophical tinge, “Every happening in the world is connected in some way or other with all others.”

Kamal Haasan concedes he did not get to have “enjoyable” portions with the glamorous Mallaika Sherawat.

And then there was mischief when he spoke about his next film rooted in sixth century.

“It was a topless society then, but we will make some compromises.”

On plans to send ‘Dasavatharam’ for Oscar awards, he says:

“I dream of a day when actors from the West and elsewhere fly down to India to receive awards. I am sure, we will live to see that day!” Any politics like Chiranjeevi? “That will have to be my 11th ‘avatar’ and politics are clearly not in my plans. As a friend I wish Chiranjeevi all the best.”
