Delay in issuing OP tickets

Thiruvananthapuram: A delay in the issuing of OP tickets led to much commotion at the Medical College Hospital on Tuesday as patients who had queued up to go to the referral out-patient clinics had to wait for a long time. Though issuing of OP tickets is a computerised process, there were only two persons in the morning to man the seven counters. The problem originated after the temporary data entry operators who had been engaged by the Centre for the Development of Advanced Computing, the firm which had implemented the computerisation project for the hospital, refused to turn up for work unless they were paid their pending salaries. The MCH authorities said that the problem arose as the government order regarding the payment of salaries for these staff had not yet been issued.
