Postpone counselling: contract lecturers

HYDERABAD: The Government College Contract Lecturers’ Association has demanded postponement of the counselling process commencing on June 18, since it was being taken up in violation of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s assurance to renew the services of those who have put in several years of service.

K. Suresh, general secretary of the Association in a statement issued here urged the government to increase the salary of the contract lecturers, after renewing their services.

Arrest condemned

He condemned the arrest of B. J. Gandhi, treasurer, and other leaders of the association, who were staging a dharna here on Tuesday.
