Special Correspondent

Bangalore: A delegation of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), led by its Karnataka unit chairman Sajan Povayya, met Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Tuesday with a five-point agenda for the State’s progress. Rajeev Chandrasekhar MP, accompanied them.

The agenda stressed on diversifying the State’s economy to achieve targets such as 100 per cent literacy, zero poverty and the highest social indices. The trade body wanted Bangalore to become a well-planned city while also focussing on agriculture and agro-processing.

The FICCI delegation asked for action to improve education, social services delivery and responsive governance. On the economic growth side, the federation felt Bangalore and Karnataka should become the preferred investment destination.
