ROLLING: Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose inaugurates the production of a film on atrocities against women and children at a function in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The shooting of a documentary on the role of the police women’s cell in tackling atrocities against women got to a start at the Vanchiyoor police Station on Wednesday. The ‘switch on’ was done by Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose. The documentary is directed by Sasikumar Ambalathara and is being produced by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation. The documentary will seek to generate awareness about the functioning of the women’s cell. Superintendent of Police (Women’s Cell) P.K. Eliamma says it is not known to many that the women’s cell takes immediate action on cases referred to it and many cases are settled within three days. According to Mr. Sasikumar Ambalathara, the documentary covers some of the problems faced by women in society and the role played by the women’s cell in helping such women. The documentary would be released in 15 days, he added. Inspector General of Police (headquarters) Loknath Behera and City Police Commissioner Ravada A. Chadrasekhar were among those who were present on the occasion.
