ANANTAPUR: Progress of tourism development in the district was reviewed by Principal Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Youth Services Department Laxmi Parthasarathi Bhaskar on Wednesday through a video conference. She stressed the need for development of Puttaparthi as tourism hub as a large number of international tourists visit the place. She directed the officials of the department to prepare plans for introducing other tourist places in and around Anantapur district by organising guided tours from there. In-charge DPRO and district tourism officer P. Thimmappa requested her to sanction Rs. 14 crore for development of tourism in the district mentioning a project report sent by the Collector. Development of places like Lepakshi, forts at Penukonda, Gooty and Ratnagiri, Hemavathi, was proposed under the project. Improvement of tourist spots and creation of tourist amenities were proposed.
