Two hacked to death in Tirupattur

Quarrel between brothers over a property dispute The three had gone to sign at a Magistrate court
Tirupattur: Two persons, including a woman, were hacked to death and one injured in broad daylight on the Krishnagiri Main Road here on Wednesday. The police detained one person for interrogation. The body of the deceased were taken to the Tirupattur Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Police said Rajagopal and Periasamy, from Narineri village, were brothers. Their relationship was strained owing to a land dispute and for other personal reasons.
On March 18, following a dispute between the two, Periasamy’s relative’s son Gandhi, along with two other persons, Sivakumar and Arumugam, went to Rajagopal’s residence and picked up a fight. Rajagopal, along with his two wives Devanai and Kuppamal, sons Tirupathi, Arjunan and Jayaraman and daughter Dhanalakshmi, attacked Gandhi, Sivakumar and Armugam with deadly weapons.
Police said Gandhi, who sustained serious injuries, died while being taken to the Vellore GH from the Tirupattur GH. Sivakumar and Arumugam escaped with minor injuries.
Rajagopal and six of his family members were arrested and remanded to custody. All of them were out on bail last week.
It was in this situation that Arjunan (52), son of Rajagopal, along with his wife Dhanalakshmi (33) and his mother Devanai (70), had come to Tirupattur to sign at the Judicial Magistrate III court. As soon as they got down at the bus stop opposite the Meenakshi Theatre, a group of people claiming to be Periasamy supporters chased the three of them and hacked them to death.
The Tirupattur police have detained Arumugam for interrogation. Further investigation is on.
