Painting competition on environment held

METTUR: MALCO Limited here organised a painting competition on environment recently in a bid to promote awareness on environmental protection and conservation among school children.
Children from around 15 schools in Mettur participated in the competition. They were oriented on the importance of environmental protection and the prevailing menace and challenges faced by the globe. The children took pledge to adopt environmental-friendly practices both at school and home.
They were divided into three groups and awarded first second and third prizes for every group-wise. All the children were also honoured for their participation.
Thanakodi, Chief Engineer, Mettur Thermal Power Station, was the chief guest of the function. Sunderraj, Associate General Manager (Environment & Safety) and Chettan Srivastav, Associate General Manager (Power plant) of MALCO and Ganapathy Raman, Principal MALCO Vidyalaya participated in the function.
