AIYF appeal to State Government

Staff Reporter

SALEM: All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has urged the police to bring those who were involved in the murder of one of its functionaries to book without any delay. A resolution to this effect was passed at the State committee meeting of the federation held here recently.

M.K. Sivakumar, a member of the district executive committee, was allegedly murdered by an unidentified group of persons near his house recently.

Members of the federation also appealed to the State Government to initiate concrete action to prevent brewing and selling of illicit liquor in various parts of the city and its suburbs.

They also wanted the Government to check the smuggling of goods meant for supply under the Public Distribution System.

The federation had also decided to take up a statewide campaign to create awareness among people about the negative effects of consuming alcohol.
