Dismissed Kashmir cop refused bail
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A dismissed Jammu and Kashmir Police sub-inspector accused of being involved in auto-lifting and also suspected of having links with militants has been denied bail by a court here.
Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau rejected the bail plea of Deepak Kapoor, who has been accused of receiving stolen cars and selling them to unidentified people.
The defence counsel argued that following the sub-inspector’s arrest on May 27, the police had got his remand for ten days.
It was further extended by two days and now his client was not required for investigation. He also contended that the address of the accused had been verified and there was no chance of his absconding.
However, the prosecution argued that at the instance of the accused a car stolen from South Delhi was recovered from Ludhiana in Punjab.
