Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday stayed for eight weeks a single judge order directing the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and the State Government to initiate action against officials and persons responsible for the sale of KSTDC land on Airport Road in Bangalore. The single judge had come down heavily on the State and the KSTDC for parting with the land at Kodihalli on Airport Road and permitting a private entrepreneur to build a huge apartment complex there. The single judge had asked the authorities to furnish the names and addresses of officials and other persons connected with the acquisition of land for Diamond District on Airport Road. The KSTDC and the State had on Tuesday filed an appeal against the single judge order. Advocate-General Uday Holla, appearing for the State, urged a Division Bench comprising Justice V.G. Sabhahit and Justice Satyanarayana to stay the single judge order. He said the single judge had passed orders on acquisition of land even after the issue was settled by the High Court and Supreme Court. The single judge, instead of confining himself to the issue of change of katha, had gone into issues that were not part of the petition.
