This Day That Age
Seedings for the Wimbledon tennis championships which start on June 23 present no surprises except perhaps for the position of the 17-year-old Miss Christine Truman. Miss Truman’s Wightman Cup victory over the American champion Miss Althea Gibson has gained her second position behind the holder and ahead of her compatriot Miss Shirley Bloomer. In men’s singles the seedings were as expected with Cooper at the top of the list. The only American player to be seeded, Mackay, has been classed eighth and last.
