Loew in trouble

BASEL: German coach Joachim Loew was banned from the touchline for Thursday’s European Championship quarterfinal against Portugal after UEFA punished him over his touchline spat with a fourth official.

Loew was given a one-game suspension on Wednesday, two days after they were banished to the stands by the referee after he and Austrian coach Josef Hickersberger appeared to bicker with the fourth official during their group match. Loew’s assistant, Hansi Flick, is likely to take charge. — Reuters
