Committee members tour the course of Amayizhanjan canal Experts to hold talks with the high-level panel Thiruvananthapuram: A national-level expert committee that was constituted by the government to finalise an action plan for flood control in the capital city toured the flood-prone areas on Wednesday. The committee, comprising Dr. S.G. Mayya from the National Institute of Technology, Mangalapuram, Dr.Yedupathy Putty from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore and Dr. M.K.Goel from IIT, Roorkee, toured the course of the Amayizhanjan canal and flood-prone areas at Observatory, Bakery junction, Thampanoor, Railway yard, Pazhavangady, Thakarapparambu, Vanchiyoor, Pattoor, Kannamoola, Chennilode, Anamukham, Aakulam, Veli and Vallakadavu. Later, the technical committee briefed Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph on the visit by the experts. Additional Chief Secretary K.Jayakumar and Public Works Department (PWD) secretary Tom Jose were present. District Collector Sanjay Kaul, PWD Chief Engineer P.K. Satheesan and Executive Engineer Chandrababu accompanied the expert panel. On Thursday, the experts will hold discussions with the high level committee constituted by the government to find a permanent solution to the problem of flooding.
