Air passenger detained

Nedumbassery: The immigration officials at the Cochin International Airport nabbed a passenger for travelling on a fake passport as he arrived from Dubai on Wednesday.

The person, identified as Sharafuddin from Thrissur, arrived here from Dubai in a Gulf Air flight at 5.20 a.m. and was found travelling on a passport in the name of one Murukeshan from Kasaragod, replacing the original photograph with his own.

The officials said that Sharafuddin obtained the fake passport from an agent for a sum of 2500 dirham. He had gone to Dubai from Kozhikode on a visit visa before two months and lost his original passport while there.

Later, he was handed over to the local police and a case has been registered against him under the Passport Act.
