HUDA all set to monitor projects online

Special Correspondent

A special ERP package to keep track of its various projects

Online file tracking system useful to monitor processing of applications

The idea is to cut down delays, says HUDA

Vice-Chairman K.S. Jawahar Reddy

HYDERABAD: The HUDA is computerising its business processes in various wings for internal online access and tracking file movement.

The online file tracking system will be particularly useful to monitor the processing of applications for layout and building approvals and permissions.

“We have studied the current business processes and the idea behind going for the online file tracking system is to cut down delays. The Management Services Division is on the job of computerising the processes,” says HUDA Vice-Chairman K.S. Jawahar Reddy.

A file submitted for layout or building approval is first verified to ensure that it is complete in all aspects before being sent to the online central registry, where it will get a unique number. The file is sent for processing and for technical approval and verification of ownership.

Mr. Reddy says the software enables one to know to whom a particular file is marked, acknowledged by whom, time given for field inspection and so on. Beyond that time, it becomes due against the name of the officer concerned making that person accountable for the delay.

The HUDA is also going for a special ERP package to keep track of its various projects -- elevated expressway, Outer Ring Road at a time they are getting delayed for various reasons.

“This project monitoring software, Vortex, was adopted by Irrigation Department and Maytas. It enables one to keep track of critical parameters,” he explained.

It also helps in comparing the progress of work across different packages. For instance ORR Phase II A has five packages and progress across the packages could be made for a realistic assessment.

The customisation of this software may take one more month, he says.
