Sixty-three patients have been treated from June 11 to 16 BANGALORE: Sixty-three patients, including 29 women and four children, have been treated as outpatients from June 11 to 16 and no fresh cases have been reported, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike said in a press release here on Wednesday. Authorities denied that any of the reported cases were gastroenteritis and said that all the patients complained only of nausea and purgation. The release said that they had taken steps to prevent any outbreak of gastroenteritis in Thigalarapalya slum in Peenya Dasarahalli. The three casualties which were reported in the area were suffering from acute renal failure with massive cardiac arrest, asthma and jaundice, all of which were not related to gastroenteritis, the release said. No more cases have been reported after Monday, said Vijaya Kumar, Dasarahalli Health Officer. Health Department personnel visited the Thiragarapalya and assessed all relevant cases of infectious diseases which had been reported. The team led by Rajesh, assistant surgeon, in association with the Thippenhahalli Primary Health Centre, has opened outpatient ward at Thippenahalli government school. BBMP’s Health Department and the BWSSB were undertaking infectious disease prevention programmes at the region.
