GUNTUR: Farmers would be given crop loans under the ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme for the current Kharif season, Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshminarayana and Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna said at Pedakurapadu in Guntur district on Wednesday. Laying foundation for Rs.1.85 crore high-level bridge at Podapadu village in Pedakurapadu Assembly constituency and several other small works at Jalalpuram, and Abburajupalem, the Commercial Taxes Minister said that Congress Government had spent Rs.40,000 crore in the past four years for irrigation projects. The pavala vaddi scheme, that was limited to self help group of DWCRA and some others, would be extended to farmers also to make their agriculture activity remunerative. The DWCRA women were given Rs.15,000 crore under pavala vaddi scheme as loan. The Ministers inaugurated 40 Indiramma houses at Abburajupalem. Mr. Lakshminarayana said the road laid between Sattenapalli and Amaravathi and five bridges were sanctioned at a cost of Rs.11 crore.
