Court orders notice on suit filed by film director

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A city civil court has ordered notice on a suit filed by a film director to declare null and void the June 8 elections to the Tamil Nadu Thiraippada Iyakunargal Sangam.

He also sought a permanent injunction restraining Bharathiraja from acting as president, and interfering with the administration of the association.

In his petition, R.C. Sakthi of Sai Nagar in Virugambakkam said he had sent a communication to the election officer that the cancellation of elections, scheduled for May 11, was undemocratic and sought copies of the so-called complaints given by some members who had anticipated untoward incidents.

But the copies were not furnished.

Once elections were announced, all office-bearers ceased holding their posts.
