Tamil Nadu girls in last eight

KAPURTHALA: Tamil Nadu girls defeated Gujarat 32-14 in the pre-quarterfinals of the 35th National sub-junior basketball championship at the Sainik School courts here on Wednesday.

G. Shiny Prasanna top-scored with 12 points for Tamil Nadu which will meet Karnataka in the quarterfinals.

In the other quarterfinals in the girls’ section, Chhattisgarh will meet the winner of the match between Haryana and West Bengal.

Andhra Pradesh will face the winner of the pre-quarterfinal tie between Jharkhand and Delhi while Uttar Pradesh will be challenged by the winner of the Maharashtra-Punjab match.

In the boys’ category, Delhi defeated Jammu and Kashmir 36-9 in the pre-quarterfinals to earn the right to meet Rajasthan in the quarterfinals.

In the other last eight clashes, Punjab will meet the winner of the tie between Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Tamil Nadu will be up against the winner of the match between Manipur and Chhattisgarh while Jharkhand will await the winner of the Kerala-Uttar Pradesh encounter.
