New Delhi: Saina Nehwal cruised into the second round with a straight game win in the women’s singles, while compatriot Anup Sridhar bowed out of the Indonesian Open Super Series badminton tournament in Jakarta on Wednesday. Saina thrashed local favourite Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari 21-12, 21-14 in a one-sided match that lasted 25 minutes. The World No. 30 Indian, who had reached the semifinals of the Singapore Open last week, will next face third seed Hongyan Pi of France. However, top Indian men’s shuttler Sridhar’s campaign was cut short after he went down fighting 21-23, 21-9, 21-14 to World No. 16 Joachim Persson of Denmark in the first round. — PTI
