Thiruvananthapuram: A State-level Reading Week programme to observe the ninth death anniversary of educationist P.N. Panicker was inaugurated here on Thursday by Minister for Law M. Vijayakumar. Reading Week programmes will be held in the State’s schools till June 25. At the inaugural ceremony held at Tagore Theatre, students from various schools took the ‘Vayichu Valaruka’ pledge — commonly acknowledged as the slogan of the late educationist. Education Minister M.A. Baby was the chief guest on the occasion. He distributed the P.N. Panicker scholarships to some Standard X students. V. Sivankutty, MLA, was among those who attended the inaugural ceremony.
