‘Construct structures to harvest rainwater effectively’

Targeting the poor: District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj distributing welfare assistance to a beneficiary at the mass contact programme held at Seerapalli in Namakkal district on Wednesday.
NAMAKKAL: People should actively participate in the district administration’s efforts to improve the ground water table, District Revenue Officer G. Govindaraj has said.
Participating at the special mass contact programme conducted at Seerapalli in Paramathi Velur taluk here on Wednesday, he asked the people to construct structures to harvest rainwater effectively.
People should utilise water judiciously and initiate measures to protect the water sources. Listing out the welfare schemes implemented in the district, Mr. Govindaraj asked the officials to ensure greater transparency in the administration.
Officials should make sure that the benefits of welfare schemes reached the targeted people.
Later, he distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 18.22 lakh to 200 beneficiaries selected under various schemes.
The assistance included free house site pattas to 118 persons.
