Congressmen celebrate Rahul’s birthday

Health Minister E.Valsaraj flagging off a rally of physically challenged persons in Puducherry on Thursday.

PUDUCHERRY: Congress cadres in different parts of the Union Territory held functions to celebrate the birthday of party general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday.

Distributing sweets, feeding the poor, organising sports events, planting saplings and holding a rally for the physically challenged were part of the celebrations.

Several physically challenged persons took part in a tricycle rally which was flagged off by Health Minister E. Valsaraj on the Beach Road.

Mentally challenged children

Breakfast was served to the inmates of the leprosy home at Debraipet, lunch was hosted to the mentally challenged children at Ariyankuppam and food packets were distributed to the aged at hospice, according to a release issued by the Rahul Gandhi National Federation.

Activists of the National Students Union of India distributed clothes and baby kit to the mothers who gave birth at the general hospital on Thursday, a release said.
