‘Extend SAS to areas in Navanagar’

Bagalkot: Veeranna Charantimath, MLA, has asked the City Municipal Council (CMC) to extend self-assessment scheme (SAS) for property tax payment to areas in Navanagar by March 31, 2009. Speaking at the general body meeting of the CMC here recently, he suggested that localities should be divided based on the financial status of the residents and covered under the SAS. He appealed the CMC to collect “reasonable” tax from the residents of Vambe and Ashraya colonies as they belonged to economically weaker sections. — Staff Correspondent
