“UPA, DMK regimes have failed on all fronts”

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Accusing the Congress-led UPA at the Centre and the DMK government in Tamil Nadu of failing on all fronts, the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Wednesday vowed to mobilise people, along with the AIADMK, against both the governments in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

A resolution adopted at the MDMK’s Chennai zonal conference stated that the UPA government could not even fulfil the promises made in the Common Minimum Programme.

“It has also failed to prevent the neighbouring States from acting against the integrity of the nation through their refusal to acknowledge the rights of Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery water dispute, the Mullaperiyar dam issue, the Hogenakkal drinking water project and other issues ,” it said.

Addressing the conference, party general secretary Vaiko alleged that Chief Minster M. Karunanidhi had converted the DMK into a family property.

“The MDMK will capture political power in the State. We will put an end to the sufferings of the Eelam Tamils. We can stop the killing of Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy,” he said.
