Life term for two in murder case

VILLUPURAM: District Sessions Court Judge Rathinaraj awarded life sentence to two persons in connection with the rape and murder of a teenager on Wednesday.
It is stated that the body of R.Malar (19) was found near Angalamman Temple at Sithlampattu near Kandamangalam on January 16, 2002.
Based on a complaint filed by village administrative officer Masilamani, the Kandamangalam police arrested A. Kuber alias Kuberan alias Abimanyu (39) of Thirukkanur and C. Thavamani (25) of Sithlampattu.
They confessed that they had abducted the girl, raped and strangulated her. The judge directed Kuber and Thavamani to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 4,000 respectively.
Tindivanam Fast-Track Court Judge Ganesan on Wednesday convicted Gangadaran (39) of Sellacheri in a murder case and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment.
It is said that Gangadaran used to drink often and quarrel with his wife Latha and hence she had left the house to stay with her parents at Chinna Mudaliar Chavadi near Tindivanam.
Though Gangadaran went to his in-laws’ place several times to bring back his wife, his father-in-law Thangaraj (65) refused to send her with him. On April 29, 2007, Gangadaran, struck Thangaraj on the head with a boulder, killing him on the spot.
