VIZIANAGARAM: TDP president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday asked Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to know the suffering of poor personally rather than jaunting from place to place in a helicopter. Addressing a gathering during his “Mee Kosam” programme at Pentakota in Gajapathinagaram Assembly constituency, Mr. Naidu said that his yatra was launched to know the plight of poor and do justice to them after his party came to power in the next elections. Stating that the Rs.2-a-kg rice scheme was the brainchild of N.T. Rama Rao, he said that the supply of 4 kg per head was not sufficient and the poor were forced to buy more at exorbitant rates in open market. While criticizing the local leaders for the irregularities in distribution of pensions, housing and NREGP works, Mr. Naidu, amid loud cheers, made several promises which include Rs.500 as pension for senior citizens, free houses, free power for two bulbs, TV and a fan, Rs.1000 as unemployment allowance to youth etc. P. Asok Gajapathi Raju, party Polit Bureau member, Y. Ramana Murty, district president, Padala Aruna, MLA from Gajapathinagaram and others were present.
