Thiruvananthapuram: The government proposes to implement the ‘Vazhiyora Thanal’ scheme, which involves planting of shade trees along roadsides, with the cooperation of workers in 500 places this year. Forest Minister Benoy Viswom said here on Thursday that meetings would be held in all districts to ensure the success of the social forestry scheme. They would be attended by representatives of head-load, auto and motor workers and Forest Department officials. The scheme was launched last year. Some 44,459 of the 92,220 sapling planted last year have survived.
