Govindacharya rules out return to BJP

Dehra Dun: Ruling out his return to the BJP, former party ideologue K N Govindacharya on Thursday said he has decided not to tread the path which he has long quit. “I will not count trees of mangoes and tamarind on the road which I don’t want to tread,” Govindacharya told reporters when asked whether he was interested in coming back to the saffron party.

He rubbished reports that he was forced to quit the party at the behest of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajyapee, who did not like him to be branded as BJP mascot. “I took two years leave from BJP for studies. Thereafter, I never desired to go back to the party,” he said. He refused to be dragged into controversy regarding the projection of L K Advani as prime ministerial candidate.
