Sadak yojana: Bijapur stands second

Work orders for sixth, seventh and eighth phases issued


Bijapur: The Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which was introduced with an objective to provide access to economic and social services and thereby generate agricultural income by connecting all villages with all-weather roads, has been successfully implemented in Bijapur district.

As per the records of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department in the State, the district stands second in implementing the project. So far, 6,034.93 km of roads has been constructed by spending Rs. 797.71 crore in five phases.

In the first phase, the Panchayat Raj Engineering Division completed a 5-km stretch of approach road in a village in Bijapur taluk. In Basavana Bagewadi, a 9.5-km Masabinal-Donur road and in Muddebihal, a 4.70-km stretch of Mukhihal-Haranal road were completed. The length of roads covered in the first phase was 19.50 km benefiting 10,312 people.

Second phase

In the second phase, those covered in Bijapur taluk include the 4.85-km Tiganibidari-Hebbalatti road, the 3-km Babaleshwar, Mamadapur road to Khilarihatti approach road. In Basavana Bagewadi taluk, the 6.50-km Ingaleshwar-Rabinal road and the Masabinal-Donur road to Bisnal approach road was completed. In Muddehihal taluk, a 15.71-km Talikot-Hunasagi Road to Bilebhavi approach road, a 18.02-km Wadawadagi-Masti approach road, a 13.42-km Muddebihal-Talikoti road to Abbihal approach road, a 12.76-km Muddebihal-Alamatti road to Chalami approach road were completed.

In Sindagi taluk, a 4-km Huvinhalli-Nagarhalli Road, a 4.50-km Bekinal-Bannihatti PT-Jalapur-Aski Road were completed. In Indi taluk, metalling and asphalting of a 2.40-km Halagunaki-Indi Road to Choragi link road, metalling and asphalting of a 3.80-km Buyyar-Hirabevanur road, a 1.95-km Indi-Alamel road to Arjunagi approach road were completed.

The length of the roads covered was 43.10 km benefiting 33,298 people.

In the third phase, the roads covered in Indi taluk include the 10-km Baragudi-Lachyan road. In Sindagi taluk, a 7.80-km Mannapur-Guttaragi road was completed. In Bijapur taluk, a 15-km Somadevarhatti-Hubanur road, a 6.20-km Tikota-Haranal road were covered. In Basavana Bagewadi, a 4.50-km Masabinal-Donur was completed. In Muddebihal taluk, a 3.40-km Mudnal Cross-Yaragal stretch and a 5.60-km Belur-Navadagi road was completed. The length covered was 52.30 km benefiting 21,977 people.

The work orders for the sixth, the seventh and the eighth phases have been issued and work would begin shortly.
