Barun Sengupta dead

Kolkata: Barun Sengupta, journalist and founding editor of the Bengali daily Bartaman, died in a city nursing home on Thursday after an illness. He was 74.

Mr. Sengupta completed 50 years as a journalist and was earlier associated with the Ananda Bazar Patrika.

Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, in a statement, said Mr. Sengupta “earned wide fame as an able administrator of a daily newspaper. The newspaper world has suffered a loss in his death.”
