Ribery undergoes successful surgery

BERLIN: France midfielder Franck Ribery had a successful operation on his injured left ankle here on Thursday, according to his club Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old, who suffered a severely twisted ankle in the eighth minute of the Euro 2008 defeat against Italy, was operated on at the Munich-Bogenhausen hospital.

He will stay in hospital under observation for several days before going on holiday, and is expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks. — AFP
