CUTTACK: Abani Kumar Palei, a 31-year-old farmer who was undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College hospital here died on Wednesday night. The local Mangalabag police have registered an unnatural death (UD) case on Thursday and are enquiring into the matter. The farmer from Balianta block of Khurda district was admitted into the hospital on Tuesday in critical condition after he allegedly consumed poison in a bid to commit suicide, police said. Report awaited“We are waiting for the post mortem report to confirm the exact cause of death”, said an official of the medical outpost. According to family sources, Palei was upset for the past few days after his summer paddy was destroyed. Palei had taken loan from several banks and from the local money-lenders.
