Strike at LNJP hospital continues
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Resident doctors and interns at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital here continued their indefinite strike for the fourth day on Thursday demanding additional security, better infrastructure and more group C and D staff.
Not satisfied with the “assurance and stop-gap arrangement” by the hospital authorities, LNJP Resident Doctors’ Association president Kuldeep Kumar said: “We have been forced to go on strike because of the callous attitude of the hospital. The doctors have been demanding additional security, better infrastructure and more staff, all of which will contribute towards better patient care in future.”
Though senior doctors at the hospital continued to ensure that services remained functional, patients coming to the Casualty and Emergency did face hardships.
Appeal to doctors
Urging the doctors on strike to come back to work, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Swaraj Batra, said: “The hospital has increased the security and will also be deputing more group D staff. There will be 25 Home Guards deployed per shift and more orderlies would also be provided.”
