‘Control prices’
The Coimbatore Master Printers’ Association has appealed to the Central and State Governments to ensure adequate availability of paper for the domestic print industry and to control the prices.
A release from the association said this was one of the resolutions passed by it at a meeting held here recently.
It pointed out that the sector was hit by shortage of paper and high prices. Earlier, paper mills would increase prices once in three years. However, now, prices were revised three or four times a year.
During the last four months, the printing industry faced shortage of ordinary and colour paper too. The association added that the Governments should introduce DTP courses in schools.
Polytechnics should offer courses on operation of printing machinery.
