Saudi national detained at Sabarimala

PATHANAMTHITTA: A 25-year-old Saudi national, Faizal Al Otaibi, was detained at the Sabarimala ‘sannidhanam’ for a few hours on Thursday till he produced his travel documents.

The police said Mr. Faizal, who is on a tour of India, visited Sabarimala along with Salimkumar from Kollam, employed in a company owned by the former at Damam in Saudi Arabia.

The police detained him when he failed to produce travel documents.

He was released when Mr. Salimkumar’s relatives brought his travel documents from Kollam in the afternoon.

Pampa Sub-Inspector K.S. Vijayan said the police had verified the passport and visa of Mr. Faizal and found them to be genuine.
