Chief Minister’s cardiac surgery scheme inaugurated

164 children screened during the special camp

Krishnagiri: A total of 50 children in the age group of 0-15 years will undergo special cardiac surgery under the Chief Minister’s cardiac surgery scheme in the district.

Inaugurating the scheme at Bargur union here on Friday the District Revenue Officer C. Nagarajan said that the children were identified during a check-up in Bargur union recently. A total of 164 children were screened during the special camp.

Mr. Nagarajan said children with cardiac ailments will be identified at special camps to be held at all the schools and at the Government Headquarters Hospital in Krishnagiri district from June 21 to June 27.

The needy students would be referred to any of the 17 private hospitals notified by the State government or the Government Medical College and Hospitals where advanced tests will be conducted for ascertaining the nature of their ailments.

He said that funds will be released from the State Health Society to the District Health Society to meet treatment expenses.
